Education Authority Chief Executive appointed as Youth Lyric Board Member

Sara Long, Chief Executive of the Education Authority (EA) has been appointed to join Youth Lyric on the Board of Trustees. Sara took up post as Chief Executive of the EA on 1st April 2019. Previously the Director of Operations and Estates, Sara joined EA in 2016 and has been responsible for a wide range of services including home to school transport, school meals, school Maintenance and Capital development. Sara previously enjoyed an extensive career within Health and Social Care, initially joining in 1999 as a general management trainee.

In more recent years, Sara held several management posts across the Western Health and Social Care Trust, most notably as Director of Performance and Service Improvement and working regionally as an Assistant Director at the Health and Social Care Board. Speaking about her appointment, Sara said: “I am delighted to be appointed to serve as a Youth Lyric Board Member.

“Youth Lyric provides young people with a unique and valuable experience through the employment of highly qualified professional tutors with a track record of achievement in education and the performing arts industry. Their performing arts training helps to enrich the lives of young people, whilst promoting self-confidence and personal development which are life skills that young people can transfer into a variety of professional and social situations in the future. I look forward to working to support Youth Lyric’s work and their vision to provide the very best quality education experience for young people from every background in Northern Ireland.”
